Fort Amarillo RV Resort

Categories Campground Reviews

We really didn’t care much last year for our first park experience in Amarillo, The temperature of 116 didn’t help (and it was NOT the dry heat we get in Vegas…lol) and it was too crowded for our liking.

Therefore, we chose a different park this year, Fort Amarillo RV Resort, which is acceptable for an overnight stay. It was full the night of our stay on May 22, 2018, but without the crowded feeling.

And we had shade, which we didn’t have last year. It’s still a crazy windy place, like last year, but it’s sunny and only 84 degrees with is a tolerable temperature!

We also had decent view of the courtyard park from our rig.

It looks like half the park consists of residents, but that’s ok. The park is decently maintained in the area we’re in. (But we never walked through the entire park.)

Here’s the east-facing side of the courtyard park.

And here’s the courtyard park with the westward view. Oh look – duckies!

Last, this is the view from our living room window.

The office area has a huge gift shop inside. I mean really huge… I think it’s the blue section you can sort of see through the trees. The data girl inside me wonders what the sales per square foot run here. On the other hand, having spoken with one RV park owner last year, these places are cash cows, so I guess that sales in the gift shop wouldn’t matter. Anything they sell is the icing on the cake, to mix metaphors.

We stayed only one night here and continued eastward to Checotah/Lake Eufaula West KOA.
