Michigan City Campground

Categories Campground Reviews

Our westward migration has begun. This time we’re staying west! During this part of the trip, we covered a lot of miles for a while without sightseeing or catching up with friends and family.

This campground was just okay. But it was nice and quiet. And we stayed only one night, September 11, 2017. Not sure I’d go out of my way to stay here again.

On the plus side, nice concrete patio and fresh level gravel. On the not-so-plus side, the pull-through sites are set up so that you face your neighbor. Fortunately, we didn’t have one in the immediate spot to the left here but there was one three spots away. And of course, Dean had to go make friends.

Seasonal RVs were set up along the tree line. Well-maintained. We never saw a soul over there. We didn’t have much vegetation but enough for the girls.

Below is our view from the rear of the RV looking straight at the playground. One benefit of post-Labor Day travel so far is the absence of kids on playgrounds (with the exception of the weekend of 9/9-10 in Michigan where they are clearly geared to weekend kids’ activities).

The campground has a cute little pond which includes ducks but unfortunately, it was not in view of our site.

Another advantage… we saw farm features from the tent area but corn is nowhere to be seen. I think this is one of the few places I’ve been lately where I couldn’t see corn nearby! (Rectified later in the day as we drove to Wisconsin)
