Best Holiday Travel RV Park

Categories Campground Reviews

We chose this 170-site park for its proximity to Chattanooga. It’s actually just over the state line in Georgia.

Most of our time in the Chattanooga area revolved around conference activities, so we didn’t spend a lot of time at the Best Holiday Travel RV Park although we were there for four nights from June 23 to June 27, 2017, as part of Road Trip 2017.

But it had just enough trees to make me happy. And also there was plenty of space to walk the dogs – an important feature of a park for us. That’s our red truck in the distance. Easy to pick out in a crowd!

Not far from our rig is this trail.

The trail leads to a monument that references the day before the Battle of Chickamauga.

Ruby Falls

One of our excursions was to Ruby Falls–a 145-foot underground waterfall. It’s definitely a must see if you’re in the area and like caves. Which means you’re okay with being underground. Supposedly we’re 1200 feet underground in the photo below which shows Ruby Falls. Of course, there are many other cavern features to see before you get here. We were fascinated! But we’re really into visiting caves.

There’s also an observation tower here that allows you to see the Tennessee River near Chattanooga.

Downtown Chattanooga

The event that required us to be in Chattanooga required us to do a fair amount of socializing downtown. Darn!

One of the places we chose for socializing was Stir, a fancy cocktail place with an extensive list of liquors. Here’s my fancy cocktail with an oblong ice cube and cucumber strip. Tasty!

For the next stop of our trip, we head towards the Smoky Mountains to stay at Mill Creek Resort and Campground in Pigeon Forge, TN.
