On-Ur-Wa RV Park

Categories Campground Reviews

This campground is definitely “back to the basics,” but it’s only overnight for August 16, 2017, and basically a chill place having reasonably sized sites.

We love the owners. They are really cool people who live full-time in an RV themselves, spending part of their year here and the rest of the year in Arizona (because winter gets 20 below here- yikes!).

They had 8 inches of rain in the 48 hrs before we arrived so we got one of the least wet sites. There are lots of trees which normally I like, but it’s not satellite friendly. Cell signal super strong though! On the day of our departure, the sun was shining! And we know we’re still in the Midwest- we can still see the corn from our site.

One unusual feature of this campground is on-site wine tasting! We tasted, we purchased.

We enjoyed the Iowa Cuvee bottle with dinner, grilled lamb chops. These are totally different grapes than we’ve ever encountered. Some of these grapes are bred specifically for the harsh Iowa winters. I’m not sure I would consider these “fine wines”, they are acceptable wines and hey, we’re supporting the local economy!
