Indianapolis KOA

Categories Campground Reviews

Several years after our first visit (arriving on August 9, 2017, and departing on August 14), we still consider this campground the best KOA we’ve ever stayed at.

First of all, our site was just huge! We could easily fit another trailer into our space or several cars. We have a premium site with a nice patio space, too.

In the distance above, you can see our view includes the dog park. It is not only clean but comfortably shady. The girls got to explore with the neighbor dogs and let me know this is their favorite dog park to date.

And overall the campground is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained.

The fact that Indiana schools have started is also working in our favor this week. The temperatures have been great, too! We haven’t required full-time A/C for days now. August seems to be a good time of year to explore Indiana.

This park is huge, bisected into two sections by a creek.

The area for kids was on the other side of the park, which was great for us because we don’t travel with kids. However, we could see that it was very nice and kids would definitely love it!

The area around the office is also nicely landscaped and includes a small waterfall. This place has a nice feeling to it, and we’ll definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

Birthday!

A birthday celebration was held at Seasons 52. I have enjoyed this restaurant in the Chicago suburbs many times over the years of business travel to that area and was happy to see a location in Indianapolis. I definitely recommend it. For this occasion, we ended dinner with this beautiful (and tasty) mimosa birthday cake with champagne icing and strawberries made by my dear friend who somehow smuggled this into the restaurant without me noticing (since I had a straight on view of the entrance). A feat that still amazes me. We enjoyed the cake with some of our favorite California bubbly, Domaine Carneros (another place we’ve visited in Napa and will visit again when we get to California as part of Road Trip 2017).
